MasjidWala uses Android permissions to show prayer time reminders and full-screen alerts. Grant the requested permissions during setup, or use the instructions below to review them.

Important: If these permissions are not enabled, notifications may be delayed or may not appear at all. The exact wording of Android settings can vary by device and Android version.

Three essential permissions

Notification permission

Enables MasjidWala to send prayer reminders to your device’s notification panel.

Display over apps permission

Allows full-screen prayer alerts to appear when you are using other apps or when your phone is locked, as described in the tutorial.

Battery optimization permission

Helps keep MasjidWala active in the background so Android is less likely to stop it and interrupt alerts.

Notification permission

Allows MasjidWala to send prayer reminders directly to your notification panel.

Open MasjidWala for the first time and tap Grant when prompted.
When Android asks whether the app can send notifications, tap Allow.
Prayer reminders can then appear on your screen as prayer times begin.

Display over apps permission

Allows full-screen prayer alerts to appear over other apps or when your phone is locked.

During setup, tap Grant when prompted.
Find and select Masjid Wala in the Android settings list.
Turn the relevant Display over other apps toggle ON.

Battery optimization permission

Helps prevent Android from stopping the app in the background, supporting more reliable notifications.

Tap Grant when MasjidWala asks for unrestricted battery usage.
When the system prompt appears, tap Allow to permit background activity.
